As per recent court filings obtained by US Weekly on April 7, NBA star Anthony Edwards has agreed to give full physical and legal custody of six-month-old daughter Aubri Summers to ex-girlfriend and influencer Ayesha Howard.

Edwards told a Georgia Superior Court of his decision after a lengthy legal battle after Ayesha filed a lawsuit requesting sole custody on March 11. In her filings, Ayesha claimed that she has been their daughter's sole caregiver since her birth in October 2024, and Edwards, in response, asked for a Georgia court hearing to "establish (his) child support obligations."

Ayesha Howard and Anthony Edwards's legal battle timeline explored

In September 2024, Ayesha Howard filed a lawsuit claiming that Anthony Edwards had fathered her then-unborn baby. In response, the NBA player filed a motion demanding that DNA tests be conducted by a "neutral and licensed laboratory."

In her initial filing, Ayesha Howard noted that Anthony mentioned not wanting to be involved in the child's life,

"Upon informing Anthony of the pregnancy, he blocked me on all communication platforms and made it clear, through text messages, that he did not want to be involved in the life of our child. His exact words were that our daughter would be a "fatherless child."

In December 2024, a paternity test determined that Anthony was the biological father of the child. However, as per Neighborhood Talk, alleged leaked text messages from mid-February noted that Anthony would rather pay child support than have custody of the child. In a conversation between him and Ayesha, Howard can be allegedly seen texting,

"I won't be in child life I don't want."

In March, Ayesha's lawyer noted their client's urgent need for a child support agreement since the influencer was "currently unemployed and (relying) on savings, family support, and any support that Edward provides to maintain the needs and care for the minor child."

Along with child support, Howard had also asked Anthony Edwards to reimburse her for any "actual costs incurred for her during pregnancy, birth, and expenses incurred after the child's birth," along with reimbursement for her attorney's fees.

Anthony Edwards has been dating Shannon Jackson since 2020, and the two share a daughter together named Aislynn. During an Instagram live session in October 2024, Jackson showed support for Edwards, saying,

"If I gotta un-baby daddy him then I gotta un-baby daddy the first one."

Ayesha Howard and Anthony Edwards have yet to comment on the final custody agreement.
