21 Savage recently appeared on the Deep Cuts with Vic Blends podcast, released on YouTube on December 20, 2024. During his appearance, he was asked by the host what his list of top 5 rappers in Atlanta based on lyrics would be. The singer replied he was number one:

"One through Five? I'm number one. Based off of lyrics. Okay, yeah, I'm number one. Lyrics Jed, number two. Thug number three. Baby, number four. Pluto number five. Just out of lyrics... Now if it's all song making, Pluto would be the number one. But just out of lyrics, yeah, I'm number one out of lyrics."

The rapper's response has led to reactions from fans, as exemplified by the tweet below:

"I need this type of self confidence."

Other fans reacted in varied ways, some agreeing with 21 Savage, while others disagreed, pointing to artists such as Future and Andre 3000 as the better choices for the number one Atlanta-based rapper:

"His collab album with Drake, Her Loss, proves he’s the most lyrical Atlanta rapper." one fan reacted.
"I mean, I'm not the biggest Savage fan, but savage do have some lyrics that hit close to home. Take out the obvious Savage songs, songs like Said n Done shows he can go into introspective, conscious rap. I would personally say Andre 3000 TBH as number one." another fan reacted.
"Ranking these legends is tough, but in terms of pure lyricism, JID’s got the edge. 21 Savage’s bars hit deep, but Future’s wordplay and Lil Baby’s storytelling can’t be ignored. Thug’s impact is undeniable, though his style isn’t always lyrical." one netizen commented.
"I don’t think there is a better rapper than Future in atlanta as this point wtf bro tripping." another netizen opined.
"I feel him you’re supposed to say yourself and have that confidence. But it’s JID undoubtedly he outraps everybody on the list but song wise yes you might get JID cuz they got more songs on radio but JID rapping circles around them." one commenter stated.
