If Ryan Coogler is still making a push to market Sinners, he should stop. There's a high likelihood it's already sold to the fans after Tom Cruise went to see it and asked everyone to sit through the end. Following this, Michael B. Jordan, who plays twins Stack and Smoke, wrote in his Instagram story,
"nah this crazy …"
The film continues to add to its earnings and added another $45.7 million this weekend, bringing the tally at the domestic box office to $123.2 million, in addition to staying put at the number one spot there. Globally, that amount tallies to $163.2 million.
Sinners found some good markets in the United Kingdom, Australia, and France, where it has earned $3.2 million, $2.9 million, and $2 million, respectively. It's just over a week since it hit the theaters, so we can expect that run for some time now, and then people may move on as Cruise's Mission: Impossible -The Final Reckoning will be here on May 23, 2025.
Sinners becomes the first Oscar Movie of 2025

The Academy Awards haven't seen proper horror flicks lately on the stage. It was Demi Moore's body horror film, The Substance, last year, winning one out of its five nominations. Now, as Variety reports, the Ryan Coogler film is there for the Oscars 2025.
However, what categories it makes it into will be a mystery until officially announced. But by the praise Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, and Hailee Steinfeld have received, they should be, or at least one of them, or two, nominated.
The last time a movie with proper vampirical elements made it to the Oscars was in 1992, when Bram Stoker's Dracula, where Gary Oldman played Count Dracula, took home three out of four Oscar nominations.
If we look at it more recently, Army of the Dead became Oscars' Fan Favorite in 2022, but that was more about zombies. Then there is Jordan Peele's Get Out, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2017. However, it was a psychological horror and didn't feature any supernatural elements.
The Ryan Coogler film might see interest fading earlier than expected

Sinners is having a good run, but we aren't really sure if that good will become great, considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe is dropping Thunderbolts* on May 2, 2025. Early reviews of the film are already here, and the ones who've watched it are calling it one of the best MCU movies already.
Cruise might have hyped Sinners, but fans' eagerness to experience that good old feeling from the Infinity Saga is real, too. This might lead to Sinners losing sales to a bunch of ragtag.
Thunderbolts* will follow Bucky (Sebastian Stan) leading a group of antiheroes, including Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and more. Moreover, with this, Marvel is introducing their own equivalent to DC's Superman, Bob, aka Sentry, aka Void, played by Lewis Pullman.
What's worth noticing is whether the film will meet the box office projections, which are between $63 and $63–77 million. Sinners opened with $48 million.
