The compelling love story of Noah and Nick is certainly one hell of a ride! They find love in the most unexpected, or rather, a prohibited situation where they are not 'supposed' to fall in love. Even though Noah and Nick are coming from different places, they also find they have things in common, and thereby they form a rare, indelible bond of love.

Noah and Nick are step-siblings, as Noah's mother, Ella, marries Nick's father, William. The teenage girl Noah is undergoing a whole new change in her life, as she is compelled to rip out her life in Florida and move to London with her mom. They all live together in London, and at first, Noah and Nick have a rough start as Noah detested Nick and had preconceived notions about him.

As the story progresses, Noah's and Nick's aversion towards each other develops into a fatal attraction between the two. Numerous challenging incidents bring them together, which not only brings them closer but also unravels more layers and stories about the characters to the audience. Noah, who initially thought of Nick as a typical, shallow, entitled, and wealthy teenager, comes to realize that he is actually a self-sufficient, successful person of his own.

Nick's care and protectiveness towards Noah is strongly evident in instances when Noah was thrown into certain dangerous situations. Helping keep her safe from a predatory man or from a drinks-spiking incident, Nick has left no stone unturned to be there for Noah. Nick also stood strong with her when Noah's father returned to create havoc in her life.

Both Noah and Nick have opened up to each other and find comfort with their vulnerabilities and their scars, quite literally. It is revealed that both of them have suffered deep trauma due to their parents. Noah has had a complicated, dysfunctional relationship with her abusive father, Travis. Her father was an addict. Travis had physically assaulted his daughter Noah, and that led her to incarcerate him.

However, Noah has mixed feelings about it, as she feels triumphant as well as remorseful at the same time. Noah's father, however, is later released from the jail and vindictively enters into their lives to cause chaos and danger to Noah and her mother.

In the rest of the story, the characters combat Travis' vile efforts, and the love between the duo is put to the test during the horrific times. We also come to know details about Nick's traumatic past with his biological mother, who had abandoned him at a very young age. She was battling with alcohol addiction. Life did bring him and his estranged mother back again, but Nick still carries the resentment and has not come to terms with it yet. What is interesting is Noah's mother and Nick's father, despite their doubts about their raging romance, do not give in to the belief that they could actually be in love. Their rejection of even a possibility like that serves as the film's biggest social commentary about love in the context of a societal forbiddance.

The relationship of Noah and Nick certainly goes through fascinating turns and shapes, with both an enemies-to-lovers trope and also a Romeo and Juliet-esque forbidden romance, except with the tragic ending. This resilient young duo face the brutal curveballs life throws at them and, at the same time, dare to love in a way that is unpalatable to society.
