Mission: Impossible's eighth installment in the action franchise is set to return to the big screen with Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The film will be released on May 23, 2025, following multiple delays in production due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike.
Lead star Tom Cruise will reprise his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt alongside Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg. Director Christopher McQuarrie has worked with Erik Jendresen, who did the screenplay for the sequel movie.
Filming took place in multiple locations in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Malta, Norway, and Italy. Currently, the movie is in the post-production stage. The first official trailer of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, released on November 11, 2024, has revealed some known faces along with thrilling action sequences.

Paramount Pictures will theatrically release the film on May 23, 2025, in the United States. Initially, it was set for August 5, 2022, but production got delayed because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. However, there is still no news of the movie's online streaming.

So far, the fans do not have an update on the official synopsis of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. But there has been much speculation on how the story will continue after Dead Reckoning (it will be a direct sequel).
Ethan will try to stop Gabriel and permanently destroy the Entity along with his allies. The audience can expect to see the showdown aboard Sevastopol, whose remains still have to be discovered by Ethan.
The teaser released in November has portrayed some of the classic stunt scenes, something we always expect from the action spy franchise. However, the story's direction remains unclear as the synopsis is kept under wraps.

Tom Cruise will resume his role as Ethan Hunt. This will be his eighth and final appearance after the first movie in 1996, according to reports.
Among the returning members of the cast, we have Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames. They will continue playing their parts as Ethan's fellow IMF agents. Hayley Atwell will reappear in the role of Grace.
The antagonist, Gabriel, will be played by Esai Morales from Dead Reckoning, as expected. Vanessa Kirby will reprise her role as the arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis. Among others in the cast, we have:
