She started her acting career with guest appearances on television shows. Her TV debut was in Hill Street Blues (1981), and she made her film debut in Blue Skies Again (1983). Rogers got her breakthrough role in Someone to Watch Over Me (1987).

Some of her most notable films include Gung Ho (1986), Desperate Hours (1990), Full Body Massage (1995), and The Rapture (1991), in which she received praise for her performance. In addition to her work in movies, she has done many TV series, such as The X-Files (1998-1999), Two and a Half Men (2011-2015), Mad Men (2015), and Bosch: Legacy (2022). Beyond acting, Mimi Rogers has been involved in poker tournaments and has built a reputation as a skilled poker player. Before her acting career, Mimi used to work at a hospital in California, and she also worked as a social worker for six years. She has also worked as a producer on many projects. Over the years, her personal life, especially her marriages, has been a topic of public interest. Let’s take a look at Mimi Rogers’s marriages over the years.

Jim Rogers

Mimi Rogers has been married 3 times in her life. Her first marriage was on August 21, 1976, to Jim Rogers. Not much is known about this marriage, as it happened before she became an actress. The marriage lasted for 4 years, and the couple eventually divorced in 1980. Jim Rogers was a counselor in the Church of Scientology. They got married on August 21, 1976, and together, they opened a Scientology auditing center called the Scientology Enhancement Centre in Sherman Oaks, California. However, she continued to use the last name "Rogers" professionally, even after their separation.

Tom Cruise

Her second and most famous marriage was to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise. The couple got married on May 9, 1987. At the time, Cruise was an up-and-coming actor, and their relationship quickly attracted media attention. Rogers is believed to have introduced Cruise to Scientology, a religion in which he later became deeply involved. However, their marriage faced difficulties, and they got divorced in 1990 after being together for 3 years. According to Daily Mail, in a joint announcement about their separation, they said, 'While there have been positive aspects to our marriage, there were some issues which could not be resolved even after working on them for a period of time.'

Following their split, Rogers described their relationship as having "different priorities". Their divorce was finalized in February 1990, and as settlement, she took $4 million. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, she said, “Being married to Tom Cruise didn’t hurt my career, but it certainly didn’t help it. Nobody hires you because you’re married to somebody famous- in fact, I think you’re tested a little extra because of it. The only way that marriage might’ve affected my career is that if you decide your marriage is your first priority, then your career will suffer--had I been unmarried and focused on my career, maybe things would’ve gone faster.”
