Amazon MGM's latest sci-fi thriller Mercy starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson is now set to release next year, on 23rd January 2026. Mercy is penned by Marco van Belle, who has previously written Arthur & Merlin (2015), and is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who is known for his work in movies such as Night Watch (2004), Day Watch (2006) Wanted (2008), Unfriended (2015) and Ben-Hur (2018), this time comes with the science fiction thriller Mercy.
Mercy is set in a world of an impending future where there is a surge in capital crimes, and amidst that, an investigator (portrayed by Chris Pratt), who has been put on trial for committing a heinous crime, has to refute the accusation and establish his innocence.
Initially, Mercy was supposed to make its release this year on 15th August 2025, but now it has been finalized to be released at the beginning of next year.
Who all do we see in Mercy?
Chris Pratt, who is well known for his work in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Jurassic World Trilogy (2015-2022), The Magnificent Seven (2016), The Tomorrow War (2021), and for lending his voice in the latest animated film The Garfield Movie (2024) joins Timur Bekmambetov this time again with Mercy, since their previous work together in Wanted (2008).
Along with them, joins Rebecca Ferguson, who is iconic for her work in The Girl On The Train (2016), The Greatest Showman (2017), Dune: Part One (2021), and Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation (2015), Mission: Impossible- Fallout (2018) and the latest Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One (2023).

As per reports in Collider, Chris Pratt commends the team of Mercy, namely Rebecca Ferguson, Timur Bekmambetov, and the Oscar-winning producer Chuck Roven, who had earned the Academy Award for Best Picture for Oppenheimer (2023), as he mentions:
“[Laughs] She (Rebecca Ferguson) is amazing. She's incredible. Timur Bekmambetov. I worked with him on Wanted. He has an incredible vision. Working with Chuck Roven, who's an Oscar-winning producer."
Chris Pratt also expresses his thoughts about the story of Mercy, as he feels the writing is 'inventive', and he also throws light on his personal connect with the film, as he continues:
"..And the script was one of these scripts that, the minute I picked it up, I didn't put it down until I was completely done with. It's wildly fresh. It's so inventive. It's absolutely original, which I have to say is more and more rare these days. The story is incredible. It shoots in Los Angeles, which is a big deal for me because I'm a father and I wanna be home in time to tuck my kids into bed, so that was a big part of it too,”
What more do we know about Mercy?
Chris Pratt has not only collaborated with Timur Bekmambetov again this time but also with the production company Amazon MGM, having previously worked with them in the TV series The Terminal List (2022-present) and the 2021 sci-fi action The Tomorrow War. As per reports in The Collider, the producers felt that going by the storyline and the director's perspective, Mercy is intended to be experienced on the big screen.
Along with Charles Roven under the Atlas Entertainment banner, and Amazon MGM, Mercy is also produced by Bazelevs Company of Timur Bekmambetov, along with Robert Amidon and Majd Nassif.
