Game Of Thrones star, Alfie Allen will soon return to the big screens with his upcoming true story drama adaptation McVeigh. The film is set for a theatrical premiere in the United States this March and Decal oversees the distribution.
Mike Ott is at the helm of the project alongside screenwriter Alex Gioulakis and the former is also working on the script. The film is based on the tragic true story of the 1995 bombings that took place in Oklahoma City.
The movie has so far received a decent response from the critics (tallying up to 82% on RT) and the timing of its release along with its exploration of terrorism will reportedly be perfect, per Variety. The official synopsis of McVeigh, per IMDb, reads:
"Army veteran Timothy McVeigh hatches a deadly plan after the Waco siege. A psychological thriller depicting the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history."
When will McVeigh be released?
McVeigh will be theatrically released across the United States on March 21, 2025, and it shares a premiere date with big potential hits namely The Alto Knights, Magazine Dreams, and Locked. According to reports, the movie will also be available for streaming on video-on-demand services after the theatrical premiere.
What do we know about the story of McVeigh?
McVeigh revolves around the story of an ex-army man named Timothy McVeigh (who took part in the Gulf War) and how his radical mindset led to one of the darkest chapters in the history of the United States. The movie will also explore how he was influenced by Richard Wayne Snell (Tracy Letts portrays), another radical who tried to go against the U.S. government in violent ways.
The drama thriller will portray harrowing details of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombings that shook the entire Oklahoma City back in 1995 - with Timothy (an ex-army turned domestic terrorist) at the center of the entire attack. The premise of the incident is the Waco siege's(1993) aftermath that escalated into a deadly act of terrorism.
Timothy was also assisted by his mate Terry Nichols (played by Brett Gelman) and both of them stacked up explosives together and planned how to execute the whole thing.
The movie will explore domestic terrorism and how it can affect society in unspeakable ways. The 1995 attacks are still considered to be one of the deadliest moves by domestic terrorists that were executed on U.S. soil.
