Mariah Carey is set to headline Brighton Pride 2025, which will be held from August 2 to August 3, 2025. The event, fully titled the Brighton and Hove Pride event, will turn 53 this year, having been first held as a demonstration in 1972 by The Sussex Gay Liberation Front (SGLF).

The presale for the event starts on February 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Brighton Pride announced Mariah Carey as the Headliner for August 2, 2025, via an official Instagram page post on February 13, 2025. In the post, the singer briefly talked about the upcoming performance, stating:

"I can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces at Pride on the Park 2025... It's going to be a scorcher."

Speaking about the upcoming performance, Paul Kem, the managing director of Brighton Pride, stated to The Sun on February 13, 2025:

"We were so excited to have her join us in 2020 and absolutely gutted the show couldn't go ahead due to pandemic restrictions that summer. Pride is always an amazing weekend of celebration and inclusiveness of our city, and this year is going to be incredibly momentous."

The complete details regarding the festival will be revealed by the organizers in the upcoming days, including other acts that will feature on the lineup and the headliner for August 3, 2025.

Mariah Carey's upcoming performance at the Brighton Pride is not her first pride performance. The singer has previously performed at the LA Pride 2023 held from June 9 to June 11, 2023.

Mariah Carey's support for queer community: A brief overview

Mariah Carey has been supporting the queer community for a long time. The singer's catalog has been filled with songs about not fitting in or belonging, a theme common to a lot of queer community's experiences.

Songs like Outside from her album- Butterfly and other albums such as Rainbow and The Emancipation of Mimi are currently held to be a huge part of the queer musical experience on social media forums, propelling the singer to the status of an ally within parts of the queer community.

The singer talked about her relationship with her queer fanbase in an exclusive statement to Out.com on December 3, 2021, stating:

"I love having a connection with anybody who wants to have that connection with me. I think that's what we all feel. To me, that's what everybody feels with each other, when you connect with somebody. I was always other, I was always different, I never felt like I fit in. I always kind of understood,"

The singer continued:

"-'Okay, people are different and we can't judge this, we can't judge that,' but I don't know that everybody else that I grew up around felt the same way. So I just love feeling the acceptance, feeling the love, feeling embraced, and I want to give that back. That's what's most important for me, just accepting people for who you are."

In recognition of her support for the queer community, Mariah Carey was awarded the Ally Award at the 2016 GLAAD Media Awards. The Ally Award is specifically given to someone who has consistently used their platform to support queer rights.
