When Leonardo DiCaprio explained a scene from Killers Of The Flower Moon

In a video for Vanity Fair, Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone gave a breakdown of several scenes from their film Killers Of The Flower Moon. DiCaprio went on to talk about a particular scene where his character, Ernest Burkhart, is talking to Mollie Burkhart (played by Gladstone). Talking about the scene, DiCaprio says,
"He does no work. Is it just the fact that he's a little bit slow and dim that he doesn't know anything about his uncle or the fact that he talks about the fact that he's a businessman when he really has no business? He's barely a cab driver at that point. But he's putting on a show. He's peacocking for her. He's making himself out to be something that he's not."

In a BFI interview, Scorsese revealed how the book affected him to make Killers of the Flower Moon. He said,
"So I’m reading Killers and I’m saying to myself, “That’s interesting, because this actually takes place in the 1920s.” The more I got into it, the more I became fascinated by the stories of the Texas Rangers and, primarily, then, the culture of the Osage Nation, and I decided to try to pursue it. And Eric Roth and I got together; I think it was January 2017. It was the first day that Trump was in office and he did all these executive orders. We were sitting there watching, and then we were working."
Scorsese initially wanted to make Killers Of The Flower Moon before The Irishman. However, De Niro convinced him to make the crime film first because it would require time for the de-aging. The writing of the film took place during the pre and post-production of The Irishman.
