Last Breath: Release date, plot, cast and more about the upcoming survival thriller starring Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson will be back to the big screens this February with his upcoming true-story adapted survival thriller film, Last Breath, directed by Alex Parkinson. The movie (which is a reimagination of the 2019 Netflix documentary) revolves around thrilling underwater adventures as divers try to rescue one of their own from an unprecedented situation in the ocean.

Helmer Parkinson has worked on the screenplay alongside producer, David Brooks, and Mitchell LaFortune in association with FilmNation Entertainment. Peaky Blinders star, Finn Cole, will play a key role in the cast as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star, Simu Liu lead joins in.

According to IMDB, the official synopsis of Last Breath reads:

"A true story that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crew mate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean's surface."

Focus Features, having acquired distribution rights for Last Breath in the United States, will theatrically release the survival thriller on February 28, 2025. Moreover, the movie will have its UK premiere on the same date but, screening is being overseen by Entertainment Film Distributors. Filming of Last Breath primarily took place in the Republic of Malta in 2023.

Last Breath centers on a group of deep-sea divers and their underwater struggles. The movie is based on true events where some of the crew members get stuck almost hundreds of feet below the surface water.

The trailer of Last Breath has left glimpses of the thrilling journey that portrays how important teamwork can be in saving lives. Duncan Allcock (played by Woody Harrelson) will be portrayed as the protagonist who co-ordinates with his crew mates to save the ones trapped underwater.

Who is in the cast of Last Breath?

Academy Award-nominated actor, Woody Harrelson, will lead the cast of Last Breath as Duncan Allcock, a deep-sea diver who works for underwater operations. Harrelson has done notable work in several projects namely Cheers, The Messenger, True Detective, Zombieland and Now You See Me. Alongside him, we will have Shang-Chi star, Simu Liu, in the role of David Yuasa.
