Alex Parkinson's latest directorial Last Breath is running in the theatres since its release on 28th February, 2025. Last Breath stars an ensemble of incredible actors including Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole, Cliff Curtis, Mark Bonnar, MyAnna Buring, and many others.

Serving as a remake, the film marks the feature version of the documentary Last Breath released in 2019. The documentary was made by the same director along with Richard da Costa.

Last Breath explores an underwater accident suffered by one of the divers, Chris Lemons. Upon the umbilical cord getting chopped off, Chris has very limited access to air for breathing. The rest of the story follows how his colleagues join hands to save his life.

However, Last Breath has recently released an official clip of the film. It gives us a look at the high-stakes scene where we witness the beginning of Chris's struggle in the underwater. We witness a dreadful yet poignant scene between David Yuasa and Chris, where David strives to help Chris at any cost.

"I will come back for you"- David, in Last Breath

In this clip, we witness Chris (portrayed by Finn Cole) grappling to survive in the deep waters upon the umbilical cable being cut. An umbilical cable is an extremely crucial device for a diver, as it serves as the sole support to the diver for living and communication underwater.

As a result, Chris struggles to breathe. Having no other option, he resorts to the breathing gas, that is, the 'bailout', upon the instruction of his friend, David (portrayed by Simu Liu). The emergency gas supply has sparse air inside, so David asks Chris to take 'slow, deep breaths'.

The reason behind all of this havoc is due to the arrival of a whirlwind, disastrous storm. Simultaneously, we witness the tense scenes inside the ship, which experiences heavy movements. Based upon the interactions of the marines inside the ship, it is revealed that the bailout only has a gas supply of 10 minutes.

Chris, in between breaths, asks David, "What happens now?", upon which David instructs him to do the next step, which can ensure Chris's safety. He asks him to 'get back to the top of the manifold'. Manifold is a gadget that enables divers to access more gas for breathing.

David says to Chris-

"Your umbilical, it's going to snap. You'll get pulled off the structure. Now, I will come back for you, but you have to do something for me, okay? You have to get yourself back to the top of the manifold. I can't rescue you if I can't find you, understand?"

The clip ends at this point. In the whole interaction between Chris and David, we witness intense vulnerability and anxiety in the scene. David's voice showcases immense warmth as he talks to Chris, where he is assuring his friend but at the same time, is himself terrified.

Inside the ship, we witness Duncan Allcock (played by Woody Harrelson), whose tensed, quiet demeanour speaks volumes. He seems to be an expert who does not see much hope in the situation.

As Captain Andre Jenson, we see Cliff Curtis in the role, Mark Bonnar as Craig and MyAna Buring as Hanna.

In the clip, we do not understand whether Chris would survive this, as it leaves on a cliffhanger. However, the scene, as a whole, captures the intense tension and exhaustion in the atmosphere. The treatment of the scene is not dramatic at all, yet, not devoid of emotions at the same time.
