Alex Parkinson's Last Breath is going to be released on February 28, 2025, by Focus Features. The survival thriller is written by Parkinson, David Brooks, and Mitchell LaFortune, and it's a remake of Parkinson's 2019 namesake documentary film, which documents a true incident involving the trapping of a diver in the sea.
Here's the official synopsis of the film according to IMDb:
A true story that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crew mate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean's surface.
The makers have recently released a new clip from the film to increase the hype among viewers.
Focus Features releases new clip from Last Breath
Focus Features recently dropped a clip from their forthcoming film Last Breath. The video is called Warning, and it runs for two minutes and 35 seconds. It opens with David Yuasa telling Chris Lemons under the sea to get out as the ship is moving. Both of them are divers in their suits. Lemons eventually listens to him and moves to leave.
The team drops their oxygen line, also called an umbilical cable, to help them get out. However, Lemons' umbilical gets stuck while the team is trying to locate him. The video ends at a crucial point as the umbilical puts a strain on the boat. In real life, the line snapped and Lemons got stuck in the sea for a while.
More about Last Breath
In 2019, Parkinson directed a documentary along with Richard da Costa titled Last Breath, which was about a real-life diving accident in 2012. Chris Lemons got stuck nearly 100 meters deep into the sea after his umbilical cable snapped. Now, he has created a feature film version of the story.
It's produced by David Brooks, Paul Brooks, Al Morrow, Jeremy Plager, Hal Sadoff, Stewart le Maréchal, Norman Golightly, and Anna Mohr-Pietsch. The cast members of the film are listed below:
- Woody Harrelson as Duncan Allcock
- Simu Liu as David Yuasa

Focus Features will be releasing Last Breath on February 28, 2025. In an interview with Clutch Points, Finn Cole spoke about doing the film and his experience of shooting underwater. He said,
“It's such a team effort, and you're relying so much on your teammates. You do in film and on stage — you really need your teammates. And on those ships for those divers, there's a huge team of people working on those boats just for two guys in the water."
He further added,
“Usually, checking some pipeline or cleaning something is a huge job and a little bit like the beast of a movie or TV production. It's a ton of people working for just a couple of people on screen. So, yeah, there are similarities."
Simu Liu found similarities between divers and film actors as both stay away from home for a long time and there is a fear of getting replaced. He said in the same interview,
“You don't want to say no because then I'm afraid that I'll be too replaceable and that I won't get more jobs. This is the kind of existential stuff that all actors go through.”
