Joker: Folié a Deux was the exact opposite of what its prequel was, speaking commercially and critically. Fans and critics didn't like too many musical numbers in the film, while some also believe that Laday Gaga's talent wasn't utilized to its fullest. But Gaga thinks differently and recently spoke her mind in an interview with Elle.

The film stars Joaquin Phoenix opposite Lady Gaga in the film which stands with a 32% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.2 out of 10 on IMDb. It grossed just above its production budget, collecting $207 million in revenue, which is not even closer to the speculations circling its release.

No matter how big a star is, not everything will go viral or be received well by the audience in this case. And Lady Gaga appears to be understanding this bit well. Regarding her film's negative reception, she says,

"People just sometimes don't like some things. It’s that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. And you keep going even if something didn’t connect in the way that you intended."

It's not the end of the line, especially when we consider the reviews given by celebrated names in the entertainment industry. Video game auteur Hideo Kojima, who is known for his cinematic approach to games, is always sharing his views on movies. He thinks that people will know Joker: Folié a Deux's worth somewhere down the road.

The story doesn't stop here. Acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino supported the film while appearing on the Bret Easton Ellis podcast. John Waters, known for making cult classics like Multiple Maniacs (1970) and Pink Flamingos (1972), joined this train of thought too. It was something he could relate to.

With that said, Joker: Folié a Deux has joined some timeless classics that sort of held this pattern initially, including The Wizard of Oz (1939), Citizen Kane (1941), It's a Wonderful Life (1946), and more.

One odd reason that fans debated over was that Joker: Folié a Deux didn't connect the Joker to Batman. It's based on DC Comics but that wasn't enough for them. But they don't have to do that now, as no sequel is planned for it.

Although Todd Phillips, who directed the film, denied any sequel for Joker (2019), he ended up making this. But it's almost impossible now given that there's no Joker to be featured in any potential future film.
