What do we know about the story?

In Jane Austen Wrecked My Life, the story follows Agathe as she discovers herself as both a writer and a woman in love.

Harboring a deep admiration for Jane Austen's works, Agathe imagines herself living in a Jane Austen-like world. With the help of her best friend Félix, she seizes a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to England and grow as a writer at the Jane Austen Writers' Residency. There are hints of a deeper connection between her and Félix.

However, fate takes an unexpected turn when she meets Oliver at the residency—a man who happens to be a descendant of Jane Austen. As revealed in the trailer, the film seems to embrace the quintessential Jane Austen trope of enemies to lovers. Initially, Agathe does not get along with Oliver, but as the story unfolds, their relationship evolves.

Throughout the film, Agathe navigates messy romantic entanglements while also finding her literary voice. The story is infused with references to and the essence of Jane Austen's works.

The 18th-century English writer Jane Austen is widely known for her realistic, nuanced, and layered female characters, as well as her portrayal of complex men. Her works serve as both advocacy for women and a critique of societal norms of her time.

Some of her most famous works include Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Mansfield Park, to name a few.
