James Gunn just came up with the most creative way to give fans an ultimate sneak peek of Superman, and fans are going absolutely crazy over it.

Gunn has introduced Krypto, Superman's furry sidekick, who will also feature in the film, as he wrote an elaborate post on social media about how the idea came to be. Gunn's puppy, Ozo, will portray Krypto, who he adopted recently. As a dedication to him, a rare sneak peek of the upcoming Superman film will be featured in this year's Puppy Bowl.

Puppy Bowl is set to take place on February 9, and Gunn will be present for the show to share a special message with fans and a special award called “Krypto Super Play” for one lucky pup participating in the show.

Who inspired James Gunn to include Krypto in Superman?

James Gunn took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the story of his adopted puppy, Ozo, who transformed his life. Not just that. He also served as inspiration for Gunn to include Krypto the Dog in his highly anticipated Superman. He wrote,

"Krypto arrives on screens in Superman this summer. Krypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing Superman. Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least. He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture - he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him."

He further added,

"I remember thinking, “Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?” - and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life. What better time to debut the not-so-good-good-boy Krypto than #AdoptAShelterDog month. Btw, Ozu today, is, fairly often, a very good boy. #Superman"

The most important detail shared by Gunn is that the film won't be an origin story. He refuted all speculations surrounding the film as another origin story for the legendary hero. He has hinted that it will focus more on how he navigates through his Kryptonian heritage along with his alter ego, Clark Kent.

The official teaser for the film was released on December 19, 2024, and had fans even more excited for the project.
