It's official- Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair hits theatres March 2027

Michael B. Jordan's forthcoming film The Thomas Crown Affair shall hit the theatres two years from now. And that is, on 5th March 2027, as reported by Deadline.

It serves as the reimagination of the 1968 classic heist feature The Thomas Crown Affair, which starred Steve McQueen, Faye Dunaway, Paul Burke, and many others. A re-creation of this film was already made in the year 1999, bearing the same title. It has Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, Denis Leary, etc.

Michael B. Jordan, who is not only acting in the film but also helming it, mentions how this movie "isn't just another remake" at the recent CinemaCon event.

It's official- Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair hits theatres in March 2027

Michael B. Jordan's reimagination of the OG film, The Thomas Crown Affair, shall shape into a movie. It is reported to be released on 5th March, 2027, as per Deadline.

Joining Jordan, the film also stars Taylor Russell. Michael B. Jordan shall be directing the remake as well, with the writing of the film done by Drew Pearce. The earlier drafts of the film were written by Justin Britt-Gibson and Wes Tooke.

Supported by Amazon MGM Studios, the movie shall not only be released in the theatres, but also on IMAX. Michael B. Jordan shall also produce the film, collaborating with Elizabeth Raposo. They shall produce under the banner of Outlier Society. Along with them will join Marc Toberoff and Patrick McCormick.

For the role of executive producer, we have Alan Trustman, who penned the OG film.

At the CinemaCon event, Kevin Wilson, from Amazon MGM, hints at the film bringing about some fresh, contemporary elements that will add to its unpredictability. He mentions the film by saying:

“promises to surprise audiences with a few modern twists.”

At the event, Michael B. Jordan shared his vision of the film by shedding light on its distinctive quality, as he stated:

“This isn’t just another remake”
“It’s a kind of movie that demands the big screen.”

The original film of 1968 follows the plot of Thomas Crown, sick of the mundanity in his life, who plans a heist in the bank. However, he is at risk of getting caught by the detective working for the bank, Vicki Anderson. Amid this game, a romance strikes between the two.

The film had garnered two nominations at the Oscars. The categories include Best Original Score for a Motion Picture and Best Song- Original for the Picture. Out of which, it proceeded to win an Oscar under the category of 'Best Song' for the song by Michel Legrand, "The Windmills of Your Mind." The song was written by the iconic songwriting pair Alan and Marilyn Bergman.

The song fetched a Golden Globe as well, under Best Original Song- Motion Picture. The 1999 film was well-received by the critics and was a commercial success as well. Made with a total budget of $48,000,000, it garnered up to a whopping $124,305,181 in its global collection.
