Senator Tim Kaine made a surprise cameo on the show Saturday Night Live (SNL) during a hilarious skit.
In its latest episode of SNL, titled "What's That Name: Election Edition," Senator Tim Kaine humorously challenges comedian John Mulaney to remember his name.
In the skit, Mulaney plays a contestant where he assumes to forget people’s names, but is still extremely invested in the US Politics and remembers names of important figures like Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Special Counsel Jack Smith.
But, when Tim Kaine himself appears on the set John is unable to recall his name. Kaine introduces himself as Hilary Clinton’s vice-presidential running mate in 2016.
“Hi. I was Hilary Clinton’s vice-presidential running mate at the time you said was the most important election in American history and that democracy was on the line. It’s been less than eight years. What’s my name” Tim Kaine quipped Mulaney as he struggles to remember his name.
Kaine continues to remind him that he even voted for him during the elections.
“You voted for me to be one heartbeat away from the Oval office in an election more recent than the release of Zootopia. What’s my name.” Kaine said.
Mulaney then says that it’s not his fault that he was a more memorable person like Tim Walz, who is Kamala Harris’ running mate in 2024.
Then, the quiz presenter says that he is very much like Walz and compares their pictures side by side as the audience is left in splits.
Still unable to guess the name, the presenter gives Mulaney a hint that he was also called Tim, to which Tim Kaine replies that he is still called by the same name and that he is a senator representing Virginia.
Even the audience fails to remember his name and calls him “Tim Scott”. The joke is on how the important political figures are forgotten with them.
Which political figures were seen in SNL earlier?
Besides Kaine, Vice President Kamala Harris also appeared on the SNL. Harris shared few comedic exchanges with Maya Rudolph on the show where she played Harris’ character.
