Sean Strickland visited Popeyes on March 26, 2025, to eat fried chicken. Whilst there, the mixed martial artist made a recording where he stated:

“Hey guys, I’m at the Popeyes. And I’m a white man. I don’t know the love of chicken so I come to the Popeyes. So I’m gonna give it a try, guys; I’m gonna give my Popeyes a shot.”

Later, as he got into his car, he opened the Popeyes box to dig into the chicken:

“I want to experience what a black man experiences. You know I’m a little white, I’m a white man……..

@FearedBuck shared the videos made by Strickland with the caption:

“Sean Strickland eats Popeyes fried chicken. “Time to experience what a black man experiences.”

@Update1page tweeted in response:

“Is this not racist?”

Other X users echoed the sentiment:

“Can you be any more racist, bruh?” @burnaboi asked.
“Is this not racist? I think so,” @Crickethub22 stated.
“Why do they always bring race into everything?” @Kingquissy added.

Other Netizens explained that chicken wasn’t exclusive to black people only:

“Why do white people act like they don’t love chicken? Chick-fil-A is packed all day, and it’s not with black people. Y’all gotta stop,” @EFreshPlays stated.
“Bro did not have to say, “Experience what a black man experiences.” Black people are not the only ones who eat Popeyes chicken, lol. I'm glad he enjoyed it, but that wasn’t needed,” @LaN98 expressed.
“I fw Sean but it’s so unnecessary bringing up race here, just eat your chicken and move it,” @Koffee_Yves tweeted.

Some Netizens defended Strickland’s statements:

“It’s funny because he’s being honest and speaking facts, but it’s politically incorrect. He didn’t use any derogatory language. Saying what everyone else thinks is not racist; it's reality. Same reason comedians are funny,” @yellowpuma01 clarified.
“Sure, his Schtick is inflammatory, but him going to a black run location, talking to the people there, and complimenting the food is anything but hate,” @ScooperCapital expressed.
