The first full-length trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth has generated strong discussions amongst fans online, mainly over an enormous, Rancor-like monster as seen in numerous scenes in the trailer.

Different from any other dinosaur featured in the franchise in the past, this startling new add-on has led many to queries regarding its origins.

The film is set for a release in 2025 and Jurassic World Rebirth is the latest edition to the long-lasting series. The film has been directed by Gareth Edwards and is written by writer David Koepp.

The film follows Scarlett Johansson’s character Zora Bennett, who is a special operative assigned with the task of procuring dinosaur DNA from an isolated island where prehistoric animals still wander around to this day.

Nonetheless, the story takes a risky turn when Zora comes face to face with a family on the island and she finds an atrocious new dinosaur dissimilar to anything seen before.

With some talks from the producer of the film subtly indicating some level of genetic mutations and failed experimentations, the mystery revolving around this dinosaur increases among the fans generating talks on the internet.

Could this dreadful monster be a genetically planned hybrid, or is it something more menacing?

A New Hybrid Dinosaur in Jurassic World Rebirth?

One of the most prominent moments in the recently released trailer of Jurassic World Rebirth features Mahershala Ali’s character Duncan Kincaid coming head-on with an enormous, frightening dinosaur.

Unlike the T. rex or the Indominus rex, this dino seems to have lengthened limbs, spiky teeth, and a disturbingly skeletal body type, reminding fans of the Xenomorph from Alien and Star Wars’ Rancor.

Frank Marshall who is the producer of the film has talked about the fact that Jurassic World Rebirth will introduce dinos that "didn't work" while addressing them as "mistakes" following unchecked genetic experiments in an interview with Vanity.

His comments imply that the atrocious dino in the trailer is not a natural dinosaur but more accurately is a consequence of human intrusion.

This lines up with the past Jurassic trends in the Jurassic World franchise, which also brought in the Indominus rex in 2015 and the Indoraptor in 2018 as petrifying hybrids orchestrated for special purposes.

Given the past, it is possible that the new Jurassic movie might be continuing this trend by revealing an all-new and even more dangerous dino genetic experiment gone wrong.

How Jurassic World Rebirth Reinforces the Franchise’s Core Themes

The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies have addressed the risks of trying to act like God while playing with genetics. The arrival of an all-new unnatural dinosaur emphasizes on the costs of non-regulated scientific determination.

Fascinatingly, the trailer tip-offs that even Scarlett Johansson’s character, Zora Bennett, may not be completely blameless. As an operative sent to gather some dinosaur DNA, her work itself implies that humans have yet to realize the mistakes they’ve made in the past.

Moreover, the setting of a secluded, dinosaur-occupied island presents an interesting new background for this ethical problem. Unlike the past Jurassic films, where the dinos were restricted to theme parks or human civilization, Jurassic World Rebirth seems to take a more confined yet equally hazardous method, with scientists continuing to tamp with the natural order in privacy.

Jurassic World Rebirth targets to revisit the franchise’s original vibes, with the film introducing a mystifying, gigantic dinosaur suggesting that genetic experiments stay as a dominant plot device.

Frank Marshall’s comments regarding “failed genetic experiments” have fans debating that the Rancor-like monster seen in the trailer could most likely be a new hybrid.
