Is Moana a demigod now?
The ending of Moana 2 has raised quite some eyebrows as viewers witness Moana's apparent death while she is on her journey to save the lost island of Motufetu. As the story goes, it further means her resurrection as a demigod.
The movie reaches its climax as we seen Maui (played by Dwayne Johnson) being successful in locating the island. However, as he tries to lift it out of the water, the villainous God Nalo stops his path and strips him of his powers.
Seeing this, Moana dives into the ocean and takes matter in her hands. She has to touch the shore for the curse to be lifted, which she accomplishes.
Sadly, she is struck by a lighting during a storm that Nalo induces and initially dies. It appears to the viewers that they have lost Moana, when a sudden twist sends the story in a whole other direction.
We see Moana coming back to life by virtue of her ancestors' spirit powers (all thanks to the ocean, including Tautai Vasa) and she is eventually turned into a demigod. She is supposedly bestowed with immortality, like her demigod friend Maui.
Does Moana's oar become her spiritual weapon in Moana 2?
Just like we see the demigod Maui channelizing his powers through his mighty fishhook, Moana also gets her new spiritual weapon - her trademark oar. The object now appears to be an extension of her novel abilities and is embelished with gold.
The oar is now an important accessory of Moana, besides her immortality. It is rather a manifestation of her superpower as she continues her adevntures as a demigod.
What are the newfound powers of Moana?
Maui can transform into other things using his unique fishook. However, Moana's powers work a bit differently. She cannot shapeshift with her oar but it emits a golden light that allows her to control the tides and create pathways to move through the oceans.
Did Moana get any tattoos after her ascension?
Moana does get a few tattoos after her ascension to demigod. These tattoos are symbols of one's achievements, just like how we saw Maui getting the same in Moana. It futher paves the path for Moana's future adventures where she will supposedly accomplish bigger things.
