Kevin Hart is one of the most prominent American actors, a standup comedian, and an entrepreneur. Vocal about the importance of good health, the actor follows a mostly plant-based diet, but does not specify himself as vegan.

Appearing on the Joe Rogan's podcast in 2020, the actor confirmed that he was a 'plant-based eater, but often eats chicken. Hart's love for plant-based diets became more apparent in August 2022, as he opened his first vegan fast food restaurant, Hart House, in Los Angeles County.

With the rising demand for vegan options, the chain expanded to three more locations in Monrovia, University Park, and Hollywood Boulevard. However, Kevin Hart's vegan venture called it quits on September 10, 2024, after all four restaurant locations were shut down abruptly.

A reason for the closure of the business was not shared. However, the chain took to Instagram on September 6 and posted a final goodbye, while thanking everyone for the good times.

“Thank you. 💚To our team, guests, and community, who helped make the change we all craved. A Hartfelt goodbye for now as we start a new chapter,” the post read.

All you need to know about Kevin Hart's restaurant chain amid the abrupt closing

Kevin Hart created 'Hart House', intending to offer food options that people wouldn't even realize were vegan. From the naming of menu items to their presentation, the now-closed chain served vegan options that could appeal equally to both meat and non-meat eaters.

The Hart House menu targeted young customers by offering popular fast food options like - 'Chick’n' sandwiches, burgers, nuggets, fries, shakes, and drinks. With vegan burgers starting for as low as $8 and combo meals for under $15, the chain always delivered on its motto of 'Eat your hart out.'

Unlike most vegan businesses, Kevin Hart's fast food chain was not partnered with Beyond Meats or Impossible for the plant-based meats. Hart House was known for developing its proprietary patties and meat to ensure originality and mouth-watering flavors.

The ICSC reported in July 2023, that Hart House had over 45 expansion deals lined up. The report claimed Kevin Hart was planning to expand the fast food restaurant chain across Atlanta, Southern California, and Washington DC.

At the time of writing, not much can be said about the future of Hart House. While the goodbye post mentioned 'a new chapter,' there are no details about what it could be.

Speaking to People, the chain's CEO, Andy Hooper said on September 12:

“The response to the product has been incredible, and we thank our committed team, our customers, and our community partners for helping make the change we all craved, and for their unwavering support of Hart House”

Kevin Hart is yet to speak about the closing of the Hart House fast-food restaurant chain, or what he has planned for the future of his acclaimed vegan venture.
