Daredevil: Born Again finally aired on March 4, 2025, and led Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to give up his alter ego following the death of his best friend Foggy (Elden Henson), who was shot dead by Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). It has begun; Daredevil is so back, but this was really a bullet to the fans' hearts.

While we lost one character in the beginning of the show, we have a few new ones. A special sparking buzz is a name that might ring the bell for those who've watched the original one, BB Urich (Genneya Walton). In the original show that aired between 2015 and 2018, we had Ben Urich, an investigative journalist who played a major role in revealing the identity of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), aka the Kingpin.

If you are wondering, yes, BB Urich and Ben Urich are related. Now that we have (sort of) a reincarnation of the veteran journalist in the show, it remains to be seen where this story will go, especially considering the fact that Fisk is the new mayor in New York City and when BB has a "friend with political benefits," Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini).

The MCU show didn't just introduce BB Urich; it revived his legacy with it. For starters, BB Urich is the niece of the now-deceased Ben Urich, who was strangled to death by Kingpin. Like him, she is also a journalist going to and fro the streets of New York to get the opinion of people on corruption.

While the new viewers of the show might not be aware of this character much, they should know that this man uncovered the identities of Daredevil and Spider-Man too. Though it was in comics, the credit for revealing Spider-Man's identity now goes to the hilarious J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons), who reprised his role in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

BB Urich's character will undoubtedly fit the show's theme, but we still don't know much about the character. And if you try to take a look at this character for some background in the comics, don't bother; she is exclusive to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Daredevil: Born Again is a beginning for her, so we may see her popping into comics at some later date.

Why is BB Urich in Daredevil: Born Again?

Given her connection with Ben Urich, it is natural for all our instinctual pointers to point to one conclusion: vengeance. She already appears to be a street-aid to people in Daredevil: Born Again and (hopefully) is a fair journalist like her uncle.

She has already interviewed Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, and he also learns that NYPD commissioner Gallo (Michael Gaston) is looking for an exit. He isn't really a fan of Kingpin, let alone serving under him. However, this leads to Fisk trying to walk a familiar path, showing his Kingpin side so Gallo remains in the office.

BB Urich is most likely seeking justice for her uncle and could be planning herself against the all-powerful Wilson Fisk. Plans for another season of Daredevil: Born Again are in place already, so we can't say if she'll inflict any harm on the giant, who is now the mayor, or end up like her uncle.
