In The Summers: Streaming details, plot and more about the Sundance Grand Jury-winning drama film

Last year's U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize winning film at the Sundance Film Festival 2024, In The Summers, is now streaming online, after making its theatrical release in the United States on September 2024.

Directed by Alessandra Lacorazza Samudio, In The Summers marks her first full-length film. The film follows the plot of a sister duo and their challenging relationship with their father over the years, right from their childhood to adulthood.

In The Summers has been lauded with favorable reviews from the critics, having received a rating of 6.5/10 on IMDb and a massive aggregate of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Where is In The Summers streaming?

As per reports, In The Summers is currently streaming on Hulu, having commenced on 5th February 2025. But audiences in Asia, Latin America and Europe can still catch the movie at the theaters.

As spoken to Variety about the Hulu release, director Alessandra Lacorazza Samudio expressed her contentment as she states:

“I’m thrilled that In the Summers will find a home at Hulu. It’s the perfect place for the film to reach a wider audience”

What is the plot of In The Summers?

The storyline of In The Summers follows a layered and poignant web of familial relationships, especially that of siblings and the parent-child relationship dynamics and complexities.

The story is divided into four acts, which traverse across the timelines of both the sisters Violeta and Eva's lives. In each timeline, it explores the changes in the relationship that they share with their father Vicente, each time they pay a visit to his place during summer.

On a journey that spans the formative years of their lives, two sisters navigate their loving but volatile father during their yearly summer visits to his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

In The Summers has a brilliant cast of actors, which includes the celebrated four-time Grammy Award-winning rapper René Pérez Joglar a.k.a. Residente, essaying the role of Vicente.

Along with him, we have the Daytime Emmy Award-nominated actor Sasha Calle playing the role of Eva in In The Summers, who is known for her work in films and TV series including The Young And The Restless (2018-2021), On Swift Horses (2024) and DC's The Flash (2023) for her role as the iconic Supergirl a.k.a Kara Zor-El.
