Chingy recently faced backlash over his scheduled performance at the Republican Event at Red White & Rock in Nashville, Tennessee, featuring Donald Trump. The singer jumped to the comments on the Baller Alert's Instagram post and responded to the criticisms, stating:
"I'm a say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME."
He further stated:
"All this nonsense y’all creating bothers me none. "I'm a performer, whether these people are political, homos*xual, or whatever—they all love music... I have classic records they all love, and I will perform them for them. So I hope that helps you understand that my job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music. That I did."
The singer eventually responded to the criticisms by canceling his performance at the event, stating:
"YOU KNO WHAT JUS CAUSE I DONT WANT RO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS MESS. I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM MOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY. THURR YOU HAVE IT,"
More on Chingy's canceled performance at the Republican Event
The rapper has stated he will no longer perform at the event, which was also scheduled to feature performances by Jessica Sutta of the Pussycat Dolls, Jesse Keith Whitley, Chris DeStefano, and Craig Campbell, among others.
None of the other artists have come forward to respond to Chingy's comments or comment on their inclusion in the event's lineup, scheduled for September 29, 2024.
Drake recently praised the rapper for his lyrics on the song One Call Away, a story about Chingy becoming more enthusiastic about playing basketball after a woman he is interested in comes to watch him play. Drake stated in an Instagram story that it is no longer available:
“Nah chingy I felt this like why do I play ball better when the tings aren’t watching you really struck a chord with this one goated lyric."
The rapper was also recently honored by St.Louis, which declared September 14 to be Chingy Day going forward this year. St.Louis is the birth city of the 44-year-old rapper.

As mentioned above, the rapper was born in St.Louis, Missouri, on March 9, 1980. His birth name is Howard Earl Bailey Jr., and he is known by the moniker H Thugz.
The rapper released his debut studio album, Jackpot, on July 15, 2003. It was fairly successful upon release and charted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart and at the number 17 spot on the Kiwi album chart. The album has a multi-platinum certification in the US and gold certifications in Canada and Australia, respectively. It remains the most successful album of his career.
After his debut album, the rapper released his second studio album, Powerballin', on November 16, 2004. The album charted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart and gained a platinum certification in the US.
