The upcoming Marvel movie, which is scheduled for its US release on 25 July 2025, rejuvenating the Fantastic Four franchise, is going to be the Marvel movie of the year, as per Paul Walter, who debuted in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Walter will be playing Mole Man, an already known antagonist in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The film revolves around the Marvel family, who needs to deal with the responsibility of being superheroes while also balancing it with family relationships. This time, the superheroes are entrusted with the duty of saving the world from Galactus and Silver Surfer. Walter, in an interview with Variety, optimistically spoke about the hopes he has for the upcoming film. Read on to learn what he reveals about the film.
Here is what Paul Walter Hauser said about the upcoming Fantastic Four movie
According to the report by Variety, the actor appeared positive calling it "the Marvel movie of the year", despite the recent jerks Marvel suffered with a few films at the box office, which received quite mixed responses.
“So I think our movie, ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ to me, only speaking from my opinion, everything I witnessed and took part in, everything I felt while in the presence of the creatives on the film, I believe we are the Marvel movie of the year. I believe we are the ones to watch,” he said.
He also said that the movie is going to create history and will prove to be a success for the company, just like Black Panther and Guardian of Galaxy.
"And I believe that this will go down in history as one of the ones that started a new tide of successful storytelling for the company. Sort of in the same way that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Black Panther’ hit. They both hit in a certain way. I believe we are about to hit"
Even the fans' expectations are high with the reboot of the franchise. The actor added that Marvel has a huge fanbase and one can never satisfy everyone. Therefore, it is okay not to "hit the marks" sometimes.
“Let’s remember that Marvel is servicing a lot of folks, and they want to make a lot of entertainment for people to enjoy, and none of us are 100%,” Hauser said. “None of us hit the mark every time"
Alongside Hauser, the Fantastic Four movie stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023 had mixed reviews and grossed $476 million globally, which, while still profitable, was well below the box office returns of other recent MCU films. The Marvels, the same year, a sequel to Captain Marvel, performed even worse, grossing only around $206.1 million worldwide, making it one of the lowest-performing Marvel films to date.
Therefore, fans are expecting a lot from the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, and Hauser's comment comes as hope.
