The monsters in the movie Outside have been described as 'The Dead Ones.' What we usually see in zombie movies is that the deadly creatures only attack and try to kill the living beings. But in this film, they can also talk and communicate with humans.

According to reports, director Lucero did not want to portray them just as mindless monsters. The zombies remember things from their human life and mouth exactly the same words they have said as living beings.

To give an example, we can consider the scene where Francis' mother (after being infected into a zombie) creepily crawls towards her loved ones and says "Sorry" before attacking them.

As multiple reports have stated, residents of the actual town have been portrayed in make up to take part in the movie. Sid Lucero has reportedly tried to enhance the creepy element in the horror drama by allowing the monsters to speak to human beings.
