What do we know about the story of Star Trek: Section 31?

Star Trek: Section 31 is a direct spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery which ran from 2017 to 2024. The new film revolves around Philippa Georgiou (played by Michelle Yeoh), who is assigned to the Sector 31 division of Starfleet. As she takes care of the UFP, Philippa, the ex-emperor from the Mirror, will also have to come to terms with her past.

In an interview with South China Morning Post, Yeoh spoke about playing the character. She said:

“I felt so strongly about this character. I guess with Philippa Georgiou I can do all the things that I’ve always wanted to do but can’t really do in real life. It’s liberating!”

The film is helmed by Olatunde Osunsanmi while the screenplay is penned by Craig Sweeny from a story by Erika Lippoldt and Bo Yeon Kim. The executive producers of the film are Rod Roddenberry, Jon Weber, Alex Kurtzman, Michelle Yeoh, Sweeny, and Olatunde among others.

Yeoh saw an increase in her popularity after winning the Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
