The Wild Robot has captured the audience's hearts in theatres and according to news, viewers might be able to stream this movie soon. On a budget of about $78 million, the movie has earned a solid $149.3 million till now.

The animated science fiction survival film distributed by Universal Studios is based on Peter Brown's 2016 novel of the same name and is written and directed by Chris Sanders.

According to Sanders, he was introduced to the book through his daughter and later was offered the opportunity to direct it. The movie takes inspiration from old Disney classics and uses a hand-painted aesthetic.

According to Sanders, motherhood and kindness as survival skills are two themes that attracted him to this story. He wanted to adapt a story that followed both these traits, and this proved to be the right film for that.

On September 8, 2024, The Wild Robot opened at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival. The movie received positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. It was released in theatres in the US on September 27, 2024. A sequel to the movie was announced.

The Wild Robot was released on Digital HD on October 15, 2024, and will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on December 3, 2024.

While there is no confirmed date for an OTT release, the movie is reported to be under Universal's long-term deal with Netflix. But before it is available on Netflix, it will stream on Peacock for the first four months, reportedly from January 2025.

This means that viewers might be able to stream the movie on Netflix after about 10 months starting in May 2025.

The movie is about Roz, a ROZZUM unit that gets mistakenly stranded on a mysterious island. Roz is manufactured to help humans heal, but with no humans on the island, Roz learns to live among the wildlife and communicate with them.

She adopts Brightbill, an orphaned goose who must learn to fly to survive. The movie then focuses on this unique relationship between Roz and Brightbill.

The movie is voiced by a stellar cast- Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, Stephanie Hsu, Bill Nighy, Catherine O'Hara, Kit Connor, and Mark Hamill.

When asked about the sequel, director Sanders confirmed, ''100% yes, there are absolutely plans for a second one.'' The movie has enjoyed positive reviews from critics and viewers alike for its depiction of wildlife and its imagination of relationships between them, which are mostly not explored in the media.
