In The Life List, Sofia Carson's character Alex's age is close to 30. In real life, actor Sofia Carson is 31 years old, as she was born in the year 1993.

Alex was 13 when she had written those bucket list wishes. So tentatively, after 16-17 years after having penned down those wishes, she takes a step forward to actually fulfill them.

It all begins when Alex's mother, Elizabeth, realizes that she is going to die soon as her cancer is progressing. So before her mother dies, she places a condition on Alex. She wants Alex to fulfill all her bucket list wishes in order to gain her share of her inheritance.

Some of Alex's bucket list wishes ranged from fun, interesting activities such as:

  • Perform at a stand-up show
  • Read the book, Moby Dick
  • To become a great teacher
  • To learn how to play the tune of Clair de Lune on the piano
  • Get a tattoo

And to more complex, challenging tasks, which included:

  • Mend her unresolved issues with her father
  • Fall in love.

Alex's mother also gives her thorough guidance in order to recognize true love. In a video format, her mother gives a detailed explanation of four basic measures in which she can find out if she has found true love in that person. The indicators include:

  • Whether or not he supports you into forming the best version of yourself.
  • Is he kind or not?
  • Is he someone you can tell him everything in your heart?
  • Is he someone you can visualize him to be the father of your child?

What happens in the end for Alex in The Life List?

At the end of The Life List, Alex successfully fulfills all the bucket list wishes that she had written during her teens. She fulfills not only her own wishes but also her mother's wishes for her to fulfill them.

Alex's life is completely altered in the whole journey of fulfilling the bucket list. She discovers many truths about herself and her family as well, which includes her father not being her biological father and the presence of her mother, Elizabeth's affair.

However, with the assistance of Brad, the lawyer hired by her mother to help Alex with her mother's will, she connects with her biological father. Not only that, in the course of the film, Alex and Brad form a deeper connection.

By the end of the film, Alex, in her inheritance, receives her mother's home. Her life comes in full circle, as this is what she wanted. Alex was most attached to her mother, and the house would mean everything to her.

Elizabeth pushed Alex to follow her dreams and wishes, making her return to her childhood bucket list and relive everything she had once wished for. She did not want her daughter to live with any regrets, and Alex has been brave to take that plunge into her self-discovery and prosperity.

Nonetheless, Alex also succeeds in finding true love in the end. Alex realizes that Brad has marked all the points made in Elizabeth's ultimate litmus test of identifying true love.
