American music legend Quincy Jones died at the age of 91 on November 3, 2024, in his sleep. The record producer's death was announced by his publicist, Arnold Robinson, who stated that he passed away peacefully in his bed at his home in Bel Air.
Quincy Jones is survived by seven children. He had his daughter, Jolie Jones Levine, with his first wife Jeri Caldwell. Subsequently, he had Rachel Jones with actress Carol Reynolds.
With his second wife, Ulla Andersson, the late record producer had Martina Jones and Quincy Jones III. With his third wife, Peggy Lipton, he had Kidada Jones and Rashida Jones. Finally, he had Kenya Kinski-Jones with Nastassja Kinski.

The producer's family released a statement regarding the producer's death, stating:
"Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him."

A brief overview of Quincy Jones's career
The record producer started his career as a jazz musician in 1953, working with Lionel Hampton for a Europe tour. This was followed by his work as a musician for the likes of Elvis Presley and Dizzy Gillespie. In the latter half of the 1950s, he toured Europe with jazz orchestras and worked with Frank Sinatra in 1958.
In 1961, Jones became the vice president of Mercury, and in 1965, he composed the music for the film The Pawnbroker. He then went on to score films and TV shows such as Sanford and Son, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, The Italian Job, and more.
In the 1970s, Jones scored the soundtrack for the musical The Wiz and then went on to produce Michael Jackson's album Off the Wall. Jackson and Quincy Jones went on to collaborate on Thriller as well as Bad.
The record producer was crucial in recording the We Are The World song, which was used to raise money for those suffering due to the Ethiopian famine in 1985. The song raised more than $80 million ($223 million in today's value) for famine relief.
