The Oscar-winning actor was born on September 30, 1982, to former stage actor, Christopher Culkin and Patricia Brentrup, who was a traffic controller. While growing up, Culkin saw his family struggle financially. They initially stayed at a railroad apartment in Yorkville. He has six siblings, one of whom is the Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin.

Culkin was introduced to acting at a very young age. Interestingly, his first professional acting performance was for a TV commercial. The Christmas classic, Home Alone, was his first feature film where he played the lead character, Kevin McCallister's (played by his brother Macaulay Culkin) youngest cousin.

During his initial days as an actor, he played several minor roles in different comedy films. However, his performance in Burr Steers' Igby Goes Down turned quite a few heads, as he received critical acclaim and was even nominated for the Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.

Besides all the movies he's been a part of, his most recognized work was in the HBO original series, Succession, where he played the role of Roman Roy, the arrogant son of a billionaire. The critically acclaimed show is also considered to be one of the best TV shows of all time. The cast includes several renowned actors like Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Mathew Macfadyen, Sarah Snook and others.

Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain turned out to be one of his career defining films for which he won the Academy Awards. The movie received two nominations, including Best Original Screenplay for Eisenberg and Best Supporting Actor for Culkin. 2025 is turning out to be a fruitful year for Culkin as he not only won an Oscar, but also a SAG Award, BAFTA and a Golden Globe award.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie A Real Pain yet, here's the plot. The comedy-drama film follows two cousins, Benji and David, who are opposites of one another. They travel to Poland to honor their grandmother, and explore the history of their family. The movie is available on Hulu, Prime Video, and Apple TV.

Kiernan Culkin delivered the most unusual acceptance speech at the 2025 Oscars, as the audience burst into laughter. When it comes to acceptance speeches, people usually thank their directors, family, and friends. However, it was a bit different for Culkin as he tried to convince his wife, Jazz Charton, to have more kids, which somehow turned out to be one of the funniest moments of this year's Oscar ceremony.

Culkin also gave a shoutout to his former co-star, Jeremy Strong, with whom he worked in Succession. He praised Strong for his performance in the movie, The Apprentice, but got censored for using the "F" word. He also thanked his his co-star and director Jesse Eisenberg and lastly thanked his wife, Jazz, for everything, especially for giving him his "favorite people in the world", their children, Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf.
