The Get Out director Jordan Peele is back with Him, another horror movie project as a producer. This psychological horror film follows a young American football player who gets caught in a nightmare scenario as he starts getting trained by an aging athlete.

The official teaser trailer, which came out on April 18, 2025, offers a peek into the hellscape that will be out in theaters in September 2025. In the end, it asks,

"What would you sacrifice to become the greatest of all time?"

The project has long been in development at Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions. In 2022, it was called Goat, referring to the protagonist's idolatrous obsession with fame. Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie's script was soon voted as a part of The Black List of best-unproduced screenplays. Then, in January 2024, it received its current title.

Justin Tipping has directed the film, referred to as “an anti-sports horror movie.” His past directorial credits include shows like The Chi, Dear White People, and Twenties. Win Rosenfeld, Jamal Watson, and Ian Cooper have produced the film along with Peele. David Kern and Monkeypaw’s Kate Oh have executive produced it, and Universal Pictures is handling its distribution.

When will Him be released? Everything we know so far

Jordan Peele keeps his short-title tradition in check, as he is following his Get Out, Us, Candyman, and Nope, with Him. Co-produced by Peele, this horror film will be out in US theaters on September 19, 2025.

What is the plot of Him from producer Jordan Peele?

Him, produced by Jordan Peele, takes us through the mind of a rising athlete who gets sucked into the dark corners of his psyche as he tries to be the greatest of all time. Its official logline reads,

"From Oscar® winner Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions, producers of the landmark horror films Get Out, Us, Candyman, and Nope, comes a chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, idolatry, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost, featuring an electrifying dramatic performance from Marlon Wayans"

The official synopsis offers a deeper understanding of its central characters and how the protagonist falls into the trap of his own making.

"The film stars former college wide receiver Tyriq Withers as Cameron Cade, a rising star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma. Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for."
