What is the plot of Haunted Wedding about?
Haunted Wedding's central theme involves an account of a couple known as Jane and Brian. They are very enthusiastic about the paranormal. Two ghost hunters, Janel Parrish, and Dominic Sherwood, book their wedding at the notoriously haunted inn, Keystone Manor, hoping to marry amidst the spirits.
Things take a wrong turn, however, when they meet Angelique DeMornay (Cassandra Potenza), a ghost from the 18th century. Angelique believes Brian to be her long-lost fiancé Malcolm and is bent on preventing their wedding at all costs.
This movie works very much at balancing two things, says Decider. It balances the dramatic love story of Angelique and Malcolm, who died before they could marry, and allows for a balancing act of the comedic chaos of the wedding preparation.
Ghostly interruptions do not make things easier, but things finally click into place when they realize that the only way to end all of Angelique's unrest is by reuniting her with her lost love. A paranormal adventure ensues as Brian and Jane, the only people in contact, make a journey through what could only be considered supernatural pages with one another's relationship dramas.
According to Decider, Haunted Wedding is ''sweet and silly'' and dotted with a few drama moments, which it pens, and pens well, in flashbacks dealing with the love story of Angelique and Malcolm's Revolutionary era.
However, the tone does wander between these moments of dramatic profundity and lighter more comedic elements, which adds up to what could easily be a confusing mix of genres. However, the paranormal premise with the romantic storyline will appeal to Hallmark's targeted viewers.
The cast and characters of Haunted Wedding
Headlining the cast are Janel Parrish and Dominic Sherwood. Parrish has appeared in Pretty Little Liars, among other shows, and brings much-needed groundedness to the character of Jane, who is a teacher and serious ghost hunter.
In the process of playing Brian and then the ghost of Malcolm, Sherwood also shows range in this dual role. Malcolm is a hero of the Revolutionary War, giving Haunted Wedding another aspect: comedy versus Brian's element from the twentieth century.
Supporting actors include Cassandra Potenza as the heartbroken ghost Angelique, whose aura brings along tension and drama into the storytelling. The cast, according to IMDb, features Paul Essiembre as Frederic, Lauren Cochrane as Rachel, and Dan De Jaeger as Earl, a medium who helps Angelique move on.
De Jaeger, however, is exceptional as his comedy timing is great, and, as per Decider, the bravery of his character was classy like Orson Welles in The Muppet Movie. Though the movie was saturated with numerous familiar faces of Hallmark, opinions of a few reviewers such as Decider said that the film's tone was jerky and the actors were presenting a series of quite serious and broad comedies.
Despite this, however, the chemistry between Sherwood and Parrish keeps the movie going along, especially as Haunted Wedding builds toward its ghostly and romantic double wedding conclusion.

Where to watch Haunted Wedding?
Haunted Wedding premiered on the Hallmark Channel on October 12, 2024. Unfortunately, Hallmark's new streaming service, Hallmark Plus, doesn't come with new releases right off the bat, so your best bet would be to watch for it on the Hallmark Channel or one of its sibling streaming services.
It's also available on popular live streaming services such as Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV, so it should be within reach enough for cable cutters and those keeping up with it either way.
