Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a fantasy film directed by Alfonso Cuarón with a script by Steve Kloves, released in 2004. It is based on J. K. Rowling's 1999 book of the same name. It is the third part of the Harry Potter film series and the follow-up to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).
Daniel Radcliffe portrays Harry Potter, while Emma Watson and Rupert Grint play Harry's best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. The film chronicles Harry's third year at Hogwarts and his search for the truth about his past, particularly the relationship between Harry and his late parents and Sirius Black, a recently freed Azkaban prisoner who is also Harry's godfather.
