The Greyhound sequel is in pre-production, and Tom Hanks will be returning as the titular Commander Ernest Krause. The last time we saw him, he was having a nap after having some bad days, but it's time for him to return to duty now.
The film adaptation of the C.S. Forester novel, The Good Shepherd, got a screenplay from the veteran actor only, with Aaron Schneider helming the camera. While Hanks was in the lead, Stephen Graham (Snatch), Rob Morgan (Marvel's Netflix television series), Elisabeth Shue (The Karate Kid), and more joined him. There's no word on who will be in the sequel other than Tom Hanks.
It was decently received by the critics and holds a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing. Now we have to see how the new chapter unfolds for the protagonist, as Forester never gave a follow-up to the story. But we do know it will take in D-Day and the Pacific Theater, as Deadline reported.
Does Greyhound sequel have a release date?
There's no official word on the film's release date. The film, which was supposed to hit the big screens, was sold to Apple TV+ for a streaming release on the platform.
The Greyhound sequel will reportedly begin filming in January 2026 in Sydney, Australia, as per Deadline.
Possible cast for Greyhound sequel

Tom Hanks! That's for sure, and other key characters are in talks, including Stephen Graham, as Deadline reports. Here are some names of people who appeared in the film:
- Elisabeth Shue as Evelyn (expect her)
- Matt Helm as Lt. Nystrom
- Craig Tate as Pitts
- Rob Morgan as Cleveland
- Travis Quentin as Ipsen
- Matthew Zuk as Flusser
- Michael Benz as Carling
Do we have any plot details?

No, there are no plot details, nor is there a follow-up by C.S. Forester that the creators can adapt. All we know is that the film will take in D-Day and in the Pacific Theater. The Greyhound sequel will enter production in 2026.
The first movie saw Tom Hanks as a first-time commander who struggled among the much more experienced captains under him. However, they can eliminate the German threat and return home, though lives are lost.
Greyhound mostly reenacts the original novel except for the parts where he commands a Fletcher-class destroyer instead of a Mahan-class destroyer and is not married (and divorced later) to Evelyn in the film, unlike in the book.
Where will Greyhound sequel stream?
The Greyhound sequel will be streaming first on Apple TV+. The original Greyhound is streaming on Amazon Prime too.
