Giancarlo Esposito's Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World will be different as compared to his portrayal of Gus Fring in the highest-rated show of all time, Breaking Bad. But he is staying here, though if that tenure will be as long as Gus Fring's is unknown.
He talked about his future at Marvel recently while talking to ABC at LA Comic Con and fans will be happy to know that he is in full swing to inscribe his Sidewinder on the Marvel tablet. This time, he won't just be the brains but the bodily ability will play a pivotal role, which will tell us how we are going to expect his future appearances in the MCU.
Sidewinder's colors in Captain America: Brave New World will have a huge impact in the future
Talking about his role in Captain America: Brave New World, Giancarlo Esposito told ABC's On The Red Carpet,
"Part of the incorporation of Sidewinder's colors I brought into the costume that I'm wearing. I'm hoping that it gives them inspiration in movies to come that will allow me to take on more of that serpent persona."
The comic book version had some superhuman abilities like teleportation, which he inherited after a mutagenic alteration with Roxxon Oil Corporation. However, the MCU version doesn't look like bringing in such abilities but more human ones.
But he sure is bringing in the intellect of his comic book counterpart, who was an economics teacher. The Captain America: Brave New World version looks more like a mercenary. He had something to say about this too. He told ABC:
"This guy knows how to use a rifle, a pistol, knives, (he's) very very physical, active with his physicality, punches, kicks, all that."
The character recruited many others in the comics to become a part of Serpent Society and gave them medical benefits, insurance, pensions, and more, proper corporate stuff. Out of all the recruits, the film picked one of them dubbed Diamondback, and gave the role to Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel).
Of course, Serpent Society will have their part that will impact the story; all eyes will be on the big one, Thaddeus Ross' Red Hulk, whom Harrison Ford is taking over for the late William Hurt. That said, fans might have another great news should the rumors come true: Bruce Banner will be there and the new Cap certainly isn't a match for the angry Ross.
