The Gene Simmons band consists of Simmons himself as well as Brent Woods, Zach Throne, and Brian Tichy. The singer talked about his solo band in an exclusive interview with Lancaster online on September 6, 2017:

"Well, they’re great guys, and you can read about them and watch videos of us playing on genesimmons.com. This is what I’m doing while Kiss is in between tours. We’re the number one gold-record award-winning group of all time, in all categories, but we never cared about that stuff."

The singer continued:

"Kiss continues to play everywhere, we’re doing four shows at the end of September in Texas. To get four guys on their calendars at the same time, at the same place, to get this war machine up and running, it takes a long time. We have a lot of crew, a lot of trucks, and it’s so easy for me to hop on a plane by myself and just plug in and play like the old days."

He added:

"We started innocently at the beginning of January of this year. I was the keynote speaker at a convention up in Vancouver..I was closing the convention. They said, “Why don’t you jump onstage and play a few songs?” Well, you can’t just do that! Before I knew it, I had some cool guys from Nashville, it was a different lineup then."

Simmons continued:

"I tried it on a few more shows, and, wouldn’t you know it, by the time this year is over we’ll have done over 30 cities. We’re going to South America, headlining some festivals and then going to Japan and doing two festivals. More important than all that, what a life I’m having, huh? So much fun."

Gene Simmons and his band's tour comes after his first band KISS finished their last ever show at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The band had started their farewell tour, End of the Road World Tour in 2019.

KISS - the band and Gene Simmons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10, 2014. The band is currently considered to be one of the most influential rock bands ever.
