His death was announced by the Buenos Aires police, with, Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, stating that the singer had "injuries incompatible with life" and nothing could be done for him.

Charlie Puth paid tribute to the late Liam Payne in an Instagram story on October 16, 2024, as quoted in an ABC News article published the same day, which covered various tributes to Payne.

"Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he is gone. I am so upset right now, may he rest in peace."

Backstreet Boys wrote on their X page regarding Liam Payne on October 17, 2024:

A brief overview of Liam Payne's life and career

Liam Payne began his career as a member of the band One Direction, which released its debut album, Up All Night, on November 18, 2011. The album charted at number 2 on the UK album chart as well as at the top spot on charts such as the Canadian, Irish, Italian and Billboard 200 album chart.

The band released their second studio album, Take Me Home, on November 9, 2012. The album charted at the top spot on the UK and Billboard 200 album chart, among others. They would go on to release their third and fourth studio subsequently in 2013, and 2014. One Direction released their last studio album in 2015.
