Mark Wahlberg is ready for his next action flick, Flight Risk, which will see Mel Gibson picking up the director's mantle again. The film is based on a 2020 Black List written by Jared Rosenberg. Black List is where unproduced lists are surveyed and listed for executives who may show interest in them.
Flight Risk will be an action thriller with a pinch of mystery spread throughout the plot, as can be seen in a tension-filled trailer. It was released on June 27, 2024, and has garnered 7.6 million views at the time of writing. It looks like most of the story will take place on a plane.
Other than Mark, Topher Grace, who played Eddie Brock in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, and Downtown Abbey's Michelle Dockery are playing lead roles in the upcoming film. With context to production, John Davis, Bruce Davey, and John Fox will join the crew alongside Gibson.
When will Flight Risk be released?
Flight Risk will be released on January 24, 2025, which was previously set for an October 2024 release by Lionsgate alongside Dave Bautista's The Killer's Game. Now Flight Risk will be clashing with films like Brave the Dark, Star Trek: Section 31, Inheritance, and more.
Mel Gibson last stepped up as a director in 2016 for the epic biographical war film Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, and more. The movie was distributed by Lionsgate only and the studio now has a number of projects lined up for 2025.
This includes three more films in January only, apart from Flight Risk: Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Alarum, and Like Father Like Son. For the rest of the year, there are a couple of highly anticipated movies, including a John Wick spin-off Ballerina and Now You See Me 3.
What is the plot of Mel Gibson's Flight Risk?
The film will be focused on three characters: a hitman, Daryl Booth; an informant, Winston; and an FBI agent, Madelyn Harris. The three of them are together in a plane where the FBI agent is transporting an informant while the hitman is there disguised under someone else's identity.
