First look at the Wind Clan in Avatar: Fire and Ash releasing in 2025

James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to expand on the Avatar universe as the highly anticipated animated sequel series is set to release this year. The new chapter from the series will continue to dive into the next Avatar from the Wind and Ash Clan, and new photos from the series have electrified fans' excitement.

Empire magazine has released new photos from the series that show the Wind Clan and the Ash Clan in all its glory. Fans reacted to the images that have now been shared all over social media as they readied up for Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Talking about the Wind Clan, Cameron said,

“They’re nomadic traders, equivalent to the camel caravans of the Spice Road back in the Middle Ages. And you know, they’re just fun. Like all Na’vi, they live in a symbiosis with their creatures. If you’ve got any nautical blood in your veins, you’ll want to be on [their] ship,”

James Cameron opened up on the Ash Clan

James Cameron's cinematic mastery will also explore a new clan in Avatar: Fire and Ash, the Ash Clan. The clan will be led by Varang, talking about who Cameron said,

“Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil. One thing we wanted to do in this film is not be black-and-white simplistic. We’re trying to evolve beyond the ‘all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good’ paradigm,”

The role will be played by Oona Chaplin, Cameron revealed as he praised her performance and said,

“(She) is so good that I didn’t quite appreciate how good her performance is until we got the Wētā animation back. She’s an enemy, an adversarial character, but [Chaplin] makes her feel so real and alive.”

The continuous saga of Na'vi and Pandora promises to be an exciting one and as release dates for the series get nearer, excitement has only increased.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to release on December 19th, 2025, and is currently being edited. As for the cast, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña will return as Jake and Neytiri and will be joined by new cast members as well.

Sigourney Weaver will play Kiri, joined by Britain Dalton as Lo'ak. Trinity Jo-Li Bliss will play Tuk, while Jack Champion, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet will return as Spider, Quaritch, and Ronal, respectively.
