Marvel fans are bustling with hope as reports swirl about a major announcement set for Wednesday, 26 March, in the morning. Speculation is at an all-time high, with some insiders (FilmThreat) claiming that the announcement could be as huge or even bigger than Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Doctor Doom.

But what exactly could Marvel Studios be planning? Could it involve a potential casting with a specific someone, a major leadership take on, or something entirely unanticipated?

What could be bigger than RDJ as Doctor Doom?

The biggest question on this announcement is: What could conceivably be as epic as Robert Downey Jr. taking up the role of Doctor Doom? Some fans believe the only news that could contrast RDJ’s casting would be Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stepping down from his role.

His exit would definitely send shockwaves through the entire comic/superhero industry, restructuring the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Another speculation suggests that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire could return in Spider-Man 4, along with Tom Holland. Unlike No Way Home, Andrew won’t possibly have to play the werewolf, but could be directly announced as Spider-Man for Spider-Man 4.

Some fans deeply wish and are hoping for a potential TASM 3 announcement with Peter Parker.

Additionally, there’s the continuing rumour that the 14-time Grammy Winner Taylor Swift is joining the MCU. Several reports state that she recently met with Feige to talk and discuss a potential future role, with speculation steering toward her playing the Blonde Phantom or the mutant Dazzler.

Given Swift’s worldwide impact, especially after the iconic Eras Tour, the Folklore singer’s casting in Marvel would irrefutably control headlines and possibly surpass RDJ’s Doctor Doom regarding majority buzz online.

The Elizabeth Olsen dilemma—Could The Scarlet Witch return?

Another wild speculation floating around not just recently but ever since Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness suggests that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is not only making an iconic comeback with Wanda Maximoff but will lead Wanda’s own trilogy and play an important role in the next two upcoming Avengers movies – Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

However, this speculation seems to be based more on fan hopes than definite confirmation, especially now.

Olsen herself talked about her involvement-or, or lack thereof—in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. While in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she stated,

“No, I’m back [in the States]. I just finished [Panic Carefully]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters].”

While the news comes directly from the horses mouth, Wanda stans never seem to lose hope and are eagerly waiting to see if the major Marvel announcement on the 26th could have anything to do with Maximoff making a comeback.

Will Marvel Studios actually make an announcement?

Regardless of the excitement, not everyone is swayed that Marvel Studios will, in fact, drop major news on 26th March. Social media users have voiced their scepticism, pointing fingers that the source initiating the speculation may not be reliable or valid.

User: @BlakeWesleytay2 on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted:

“There are a couple of people on this panel who rub me the wrong way, and I don’t think anything should be considered reliable unless it’s confirmed by multiple sources.”

With Daredevil: Born Again currently in the spotlight for Marvel, some trust that the MCU might hold off on announcing major news to avoid overriding Murdock.

However, if the speculation turns out to be true, the MCU could be on its path to one of its biggest announcements in recent history.
