Parents across the country were shocked last month when pictures of a Fisher-Price set called 'My First Dealer Kit' started circulating on the internet. The images of the rumored play set, however, were later confirmed to be fake.

The naming inconsistencies in the picture confirmed that it was AI-generated.

Images of the rumored play set first appeared on Instagram's Threads app on August 16. A user called @official5starfranchise shared them with peers while mentioning that it was crazy. It didn't take long for images of the 'My First Dealer Kit' to start appearing on other social media, including Reddit and X.

Neither the original poster nor the posters on Reddit or X confirmed the genuineness of the product or hinted at their availability. The picture of the kit had people concerned as it showcased items like a plastic pistol, cash bundles, a gray hoodie, and marijuana pouches.

The images of Fisher-Price's 'My First Dealer Kit' were AI-generated and the product was fake

The rumored kit seemed to feature a similar packaging as that of several Fisher-Price toys. But when taking a closer look, one could see the brand name as 'Fisher Picce' instead of Fisher-Price.

The image also showed the item's name with 'KIT' misspelled as 'KT,' while also having uneven spaces between the words. The fonts used in the image did not match the toy brand's original packaging norms.

When run through an AI-detection software - Hive Moderation - the image was flagged as AI-generated. The software gave at a 99.8% possibility, further confirming the play set was never real.

As of this writing, neither Fisher-Price nor its parent company Mattel have advertised toys or play sets similar to the 'My First Dealer Kit.' The brand mostly sells educational toys and is not known to have released any egregious play sets to date.

A look at another fake Fisher-Price toy from early 2024

This is not the first time the images of a fake Fisher-Price product have gone viral on the internet. In April 2024, an Instagram user going by @dollycypherart posted a video of an Ouija board toy called 'My First Seance' play set.

The short video was paired with a machine voice that read "Now your kids can finally meet grandma thanks to my First Seance play set." The neat packaging of the product and the image quality made it seem like a real toy from Fisher Price, but it was also confirmed to be generated by AI software.

While some of the letters (S and Z) were missing, letters like J, U, and V were repeated several times. The Fisher-Price logo on the product box also missed the hyphen (-).

The origin of the 'My First Seance' playset was traced back to a Facebook group called Cursed AI, where people post images and videos created by AI. The now-removed image was found along with some other AI-generated toys, including a pistol toy from Fisher-Price called My First Glock.

AI-generated images and videos have become very common recently and may not always be as distinguishable as in the above cases. Readers suspicious about the genuineness of certain toys are advised to contact the toy brand or check their official website and social media pages.
