Stunts confirmed that Christian Bale did in The Dark Knight Trilogy

Christian Bale, while playing Bruce Wayne, also known as vigilante Batman, carried out many of his own stunts. The actor claimed in an interview with Today that he tried his best to do as many stunts as he could.

1) Standing on top of a 110-story Tower overlooking Gotham City

Christian Bale asked a stunt double to opt out of the scene that required him to stand on the roof of a 110-story Sears building in Chicago. The scene is a part of the second movie, The Dark Knight, and can be seen on the timestamp, 55:28.

The actor stood in place of his stunt double on the roof's edge and stated that he did not find it as dangerous, especially because he had safety traps on his feet. In an interview with Metro, Buster Reeves recalled this instance and stated,

“Christian wanted to do everything; he’s a very physical guy. He did a lot of the fights himself, but obviously, due to the restrictive nature of the batsuit, it was very tiring. He would step out; I would step in.’

2) Fight scene with Ra's Al Ghul

Another scene where Bale is famously known for doing his stunts is when he fights with Ra’s Al Ghul on top of a frozen lake. The scene is from the first movie, Batman Begins, and can be seen at the 17:17 timestamp. Bale recalled in an interview with the Chicago Tribune,

“We were out there, and it was splitting—there were big cracks appearing down it—and we all had to stand still and not break it,” he says. “By the next day, there was all this water again.”

Christian Bale did not perform all of the stunts himself in the trilogy, especially those involving the Bat-Pod. However, there are some stunts we speculate that he performed himself.

1) Fight scene with the Joker during his interrogation

According to Screen Rant, Bale trained in the Keysi Fighting Method, a defense fighting technique that allowed him to carry out many of his combat scenes. Bale's use of his learnings from the Keysi Fighting Method can be seen in his action scene with the Joke. The scene happens when the former is interrogating the latter. This scene is part of the first movie, The Dark Knight, and can be seen at 1:29:10.

2) Jumping from the window to save Rachel Dawes

Another stunt we can speculate Bale performed is the scene where Batman saves Rachel Dawes after the Joker throws her out of a window during the fundraiser in the first movie, The Dark Knight. With proper safety measures in place, it is possible that Bale performed the stunt in real life. The timestamp for this scene is 53:00.

3) Fight scenes with Bane

Two major fight scenes between Batman and Bane can be seen in the third movie, The Dark Knight Rises, at timestamps 1:12:10 and 2:13:15. Since Bale had trained in defense fighting, it can be speculated that the combat scenes with Bane were performed by Bale himself instead of a stunt double.
