1) Moana 2
Moana 2 is a kids movie that is expected to hit the theatres on November 27, 2024. The sequel will revolve around Moana going on a journey with Maui to find the island of Motufetu. After a call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana and her friends venture out to find the island of Motufetu, which was disconnected from the ocean by the envious god of storms. In the trailer, the villain of the film can be heard saying,
“You will be destroyed, and your wayfinder too.”
2) The Wild Robot
The Wild Robot is an upcoming kids movie that is expected to release on September 27, 2024. The movie is about a robot that finds itself in the middle of nowhere due to a shipwreck. The robot named ROZZUM unit 7134, also known as Roz, is then on a wild island surrounded by nature and animals.
With the animals initially afraid of this unknown robot, the movie takes audiences on a journey where Roz adapts to his surroundings. He builds loving friendships with the animals around him, even becoming a parent to an orphaned baby goose. From the makers of the famous kids movie, How to Train Your Dragon, the trailer of the film, the narrator states,
“Sometimes to survive, we must become more than we were programmed to be.”
3) Mufasa: The Lion King
Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel as well as a sequel to the renowned kids film, The Lion King. It is all set to hit theatres near you on December 20, 2024. The movie picks up from where The Lion King left off in the land of Tanzania. Mufasa: The Lion King begins with Rafiki narrating the story of how Mufasa and Taka came to be.
He narrates it to the daughter of Simba and Nala, Kiara. Rafiki narrates how Prince Taka, also known as Scar, finds orphaned Mufasa and how the two become brothers despite all odds. Moreover, Timon and Pumbaa, the meerkat and warthog, are also in the film but in their own humorous way upset that they are not a part of this story.
4) Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Based on the video game series and the third part of the action-adventure comedy kids movie series, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released on December 20, 2024.
The film takes viewers on an adventure where Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails go in a head-to-head battle with a much more powerful and intelligent alien, Shadow the Hedgehog. In order to save the planet, Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails are left with no choice but to take the help of Dr. Robotnik. The trailer describes Shadow’s character arc as the following:
“Shadow’s story began a lot like you, Sonic, but where you found family and friends. Shadow found only pain and loss.”
5) The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will be released in theatres on November 8, 2024. The kids movie is adapted from a children’s novel by Barbara Robinson and is centered around the local annual Christmas pageant organized by the church. This pageant is special as it is the pageant’s 75th anniversary.
In an event where nothing can go wrong, the pageant sees the participation of the Herdmans, six siblings who are known for creating trouble all around town. However, the Herdmans might just end up showing the people of their town what Christmas is really about.
6) Wicked
Wicked is a musical fantasy film that will be available for audiences to watch in theatres from November 22, 2024. This kids movie has characters from the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and is set in the Land of Oz before Dorothy Gale’s time. The film is all set to be the first part of a two-part series, with the first part exploring the friendship of Elphaba and Galinda.
Elphaba is a young, intelligent woman with green skin, and Galinda likes all things pink and has an intense desire to be the most popular girl. Elphaba is someone who is misunderstood due to the color of her skin and begins to form an unlikely friendship with Galinda. The film explores the different journeys both characters take after meeting the Wizard of Oz.
Wicked, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Moana 2, The Wild Robot, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are kids movies that will be released in theatres before the end of 2024.
