Cardi B and Offset are back in the news with a new scandal. The former filed for divorce on July 31, 2024, in the latest saga of the tumultuous relationship between the two musicians. The divorce was confirmed by Cardy B's representatives when asked by the press.
More recently, on September 25, 2024, Offset accused Cardi B of cheating during an Instagram Live session while pregnant. Cardi B has since responded to the allegations with her statement on Instagram Live, here quoted via Billboard's article on the exchange between the estranged couple on September 26, 2024 :
"All weekend you was blowing up my phone, I blocked you … You tryna get me mad, ‘Let me show you the b—-s I’m f–king. I don’t care. … You’re f–king lame. I’m too much woman for you. I’m too much of a boss b—h for you. And I always been too good for you … I don’t make you feel like you’re that n—a in this home. I make you look good."
Cardi B and Offset Scandal timeline
Cardi B and Offset started their relationship in 2017, though neither party confirmed they were in a relationship till mid-2017. The relationship went through multiple scandals and controversies till the divorce, which is elaborated upon here in a timeline.
December 24, 2017: Offset is accused of cheating on her after a video emerges of him in a hotel with another naked woman. The first cheating allegation was quickly followed by another model claiming to have slept with the rapper.
January 8, 2018: Cheating allegations backed by a s*x tape once again surface against Offset. She reportedly confirmed the allegations in a now-deleted social media post.
December 5, 2018: She announced her split after further allegations of cheating by her partner Offset emerged. They get back together after some time.
September 15, 2020: She fileD for divorce. The court documents obtained at the time by the Billboard website state that Cardi B petitioned the court to award her primarily legal and physical custody of their child.
September 18, 2020: In an Instagram Live Post, Cardi B elaborated on the decision to file for divorce, stating:
"I just got tired of f—ing arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye. When you feel like it’s just not the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I’d rather just leave."
She continued:
"Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart. I been with this man for four years. I have a kid with this man, I have a household with this man…sometimes you’re just tired of the arguments and the build up. You get tired sometimes and before something happens, you leave."
She and Offset subsequently reunited and called off their divorce on November 2, 2020. The two had their next baby in late 2021 and Cardi B helped Offset after Takeoff's death.
June 26, 2023: Cardi slammed the cheating claims by Offset.
December 4, 2023: She hinted at relationship trouble in a couple of Instagram stories no longer available.
December 10, 2023: Offset denied cheating on his girlfriend with Chrisean Rock.
December 11, 2023: The rapper confirmed she was single.
The duo would reconcile in the early months of 2024, with fans spotting them together at the New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on April 30, 2024. However, the latest reconciliation did not last long, as evident from the current back and forth between the two.
