Eddie Murphy to act in Blue Falcon
Earlier in January 2025, Deadline stated that Sony Pictures had signed him to star in their action comedy film Blue Falcon. The former SNL star will appear as a retired spy who goes to attend his son's destination wedding. However, the twist comes in when he meets his former nemesis in that area.
Chad St. John has written the script of Blue Falcon which is being produced by Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster alongside John Davis and Cliff Roberts. The production banners involved in the film are Davis Films, Eddie Murphy Productions, and Syndicate Entertainment.
In his teen years, Murphy did stand-up comedy and eventually became a member of Saturday Night Live in the 1980s. This skyrocketed him to fame and he eventually started getting roles in Hollywood. He appeared in several successful franchises including the Beverly Hills Cop, Shrek, and The Nutty Professor.
In an interview with The New York Times, Murphy spoke about doing Beverly Hills Cop at a young age and how that changed his career. He said,
I was 22 when I got to do “Beverly Hills Cop” and 20 years old when I started doing “48 Hrs.” Now I look back at those times, and I trip about how young I was. But back then I kind of took it for granted. One thing had led to another, and I wound up on a movie set. Then when stuff worked and became hit movies, I was like, “OK, that’s what it’s supposed to be.”
