Dog Man is an animated film that came out in 2025 and has been received well by viewers. Produced by Karen Foster of Dreamworks Animation, the film is directed by Peter Hastings, who also wrote the screenplay. It's an adaptation of the namesake graphic novel by Dav Pilkey and works as a spin-off to Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.

The official synopsis of the film reads,

Dog Man, half dog and half man, he is sworn to protect and serve as he doggedly pursues the feline supervillain Petey the Cat.

The film premiered at the Festival de l'Alpe d'Huez. While people are loving the humor and animation of the film, there is also some curiosity among viewers regarding the post-credit scene.

Is there a post-credit scene in Dog Man?

Dog Man does not feature any post-credit scenes, which is the norm in several films lately. However, the end sequence has something related to the television series. The film comes to an end with an epilogue, and the final credit starts rolling. While the names are rolling, the audience can hear the song I Feel Good while the work of Dav Pilkey is showcased on the screen.

There are no sequences or sudden tease of a potential sequel of the film.

It is the second installment in DreamWorks' planned Captain Underpants franchise. Hastings, who has written and directed the film, has also lent his voice to Officer Knight and the titular character.

Speaking to NBC Insider, the director revealed that he had provided his voice to the character as scratch audio, which is used for reference before the actors record their pieces. But reportedly, his voice was so good that it was kept as the final voice. He said,

"I did Dog Man as scratch, and then we thought maybe we'll do some crazy casting with [him]. Like, some famous actor who would ask, 'Okay, what do I say?' And I'd have to say, 'Well, you don't really say anything."

Hastings further stated that people were initially trying to get the real sound of a dog for the character, which did not work.

"We probably could have gotten somebody who is better at doing dog sounds. But when I tried to do totally accurate dog sounds, it was a little too real. It sort of knocked away the feel of the movie a little bit. So I was lucky to just keep my performance."

Besides him, the film also features the voice of Pete Davidson as Petey, the orange cat. He is the story's villain and touts himself as the evilest cat in the world. Other cast members include Lucas Hopkins Calderon, Lil Rel Howery, Isla Fisher, Billy Boyd, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Root, and Poppy Liu.

Davidson has stated that he has grown up reading Pikey's work.

"I grew up reading all the 'Captain Underpants' books. My mom got them for me. All the young kids in my family, they all read 'Dog Man,' they're obsessed with 'Dog Man.' And then right around the time I started noticing that, we got the offer. It's a really fun, loud, layered character. I don't get a lot of opportunities to stretch like that."

The film was released on January 31, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
