Does James Bond die in No Time To Die?

Yes, No Time To Die marks the death of James Bond, bringing Daniel Craig’s career as the 007 agent to a close. The actor portrayed the character for 15 years taking over from its predecessor Pierce Brosnan who was Bond from 1995 to 2002. An interesting fact is that it was Daniel who suggested killing James Bond to end his version of the character and bringing in a fresh face for the 007 spot. Bond’s death in No Time To Die was the 1st time in cinema’s history that James Bond was shown to be killed in a movie. According to the actor, he felt that Bond’s death could be a reset button for his own career and the franchise as a whole, breaking the tradition of changing the character’s face.

During a Zoom call interview with the Los Angeles Times, Daniel Craig explained why killing his version of Bond was so important to him. “Two things, one for myself and one for the franchise,” Craig said. “One, for the franchise, was that resets start again, which [the franchise] did with me. And I was like, ‘Well, you need to reset again.’ So let’s kill my character off and go find another Bond and go find another story. Start at [age] 23, start at 25, start at 30.

Continuing the part Craig mentioned, “The other was so that I could move on. I don’t want to go back. I suppose I would be so lucky if they were to ask me back, but the fact is I need to move on from it. The sacrifice that he makes in the movie was for love and there’s no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to end on.”
