Steven Soderbergh went from the haunted house in Presence to the National Cyber Security Centre in Black Bag this month. The Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett starrer spy thriller was a critical banger as it pulled rave reviews and now sits with a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fassbender is one charmer in there who is investigating a leak that can cost them a nuclear meltdown. The cat-and-mouse game keeps Blachett's Kathryn as the prime suspect, but there are four more whom Fassbener's George is keeping on his radar.
The mystery is solved, but one remains, whether there's a post-credits scene, and should one stay till the end after the credits roll? There will come a moment when the viewers hope they might get something as a next chapter. In case you are wondering, don't bother staying in the theater and leave because there isn't one.

How does Black Bag end?
As we said, Black Bag is a game of cat-and-mouse, but all of the suspects whom George is keeping an eye on are a part of this game, including him, and someone's keeping an eye on them already so they can execute their plan while they are all caught in this distraction.
The five suspects here include, excluding Kathryn as we have already mentioned, Col. James Stokes (Regé-Jean Page), Dr. Zoe Vaughan (Naomie Harris), Freddie Smalls (Tom Burke), and Clarissa Dubose (Marisa Abela). They are suspected of stealing Severus, a software capable of killing thousands by triggering a nuclear meltdown in Moscow.
Stokes turns out to be this mole, but he is simply a pawn in this game. Their boss, Arthur Stieglitz (Pierce Brosnan), is the one who deliberately caused the leak without thinking of what it'll do to the innocent ones.
In a showdown, James is killed, and now that Stieglitz is compromised, he is forced to remove himself from the picture. George and Kathryn get back together, and they also have a stash of uncredited ₤7 million ($9 million) in a Zurich account that's mentioned during a movie but is never explained. All we know is that it's not theirs, but it can be now.
Does Black Bag set up a sequel?
Black Bag doesn't outright set up a sequel, but spy thrillers like these are open-ended and always have a scope for further development in the story. There can be a new threat if the creators have planned a sequel, but there is no official announcement for it.
Going by Steven Soderbergh's filmmaking history, Ocean's trilogy is the only franchise last time he thought about sequels. Though there's his two-part biographical film, Che, that doesn't count as a proper sequel.
A film's box office performance is always a factor to be considered. We may have a chance if it generates enough revenue to pull a new story out of Black Bag. While we got to see Michael Fassbender in the lead here, there could be a story arc focused on Kate Blachett's Kathryn too.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film has garnered $14 million globally at the time of writing.
